How extraordinary is the gift that lies in the hands of piano teacher, who recognize the creative potential in every student! But following through on that recognition and knowing how to meet each student in his own particular creative place can be a challenge that is only compounded by the time constraints of the weekly piano lesson. Teaching music in a private lesson setting requires critical thinking of the teacher’s role in the process. I think that an ideal teacher should teach students how to think, rather than what to think. Therefore, I prefer the role of “mediator”, rather than “mentor” in the creative teaching process.

 I believe that the piano is one of the best instruments to express an individual’s emotional and intellectual ability. In order to share my fascination in tepiano, I encourage my students to become involved in rich musical experiences. These experiences include attending live performances, watching/listening to video/audio recordings, including recordings of students themselves and reading books about music history/theory/interpretation. I provide every opportunity for the students to perform by taking advantage of the facilities surrounding them. Teachers can significantly support their students to maintain continuing interest in piano music throughout their life, while understanding all the learning procedures as an enjoyment.

Piano lessons at your house (Washington DC area) or online are available by Doctor of Musical Art in Piano Performance, winner of many international piano competitions. I have 20 years of teaching experience of Russian Piano School. I use friendly approach to all ages/levels, starting from 7 years old and charge affordable fees. My students won awards at Maryland State Music Teachers Association and Montgomery County Music Teachers Association events.
